Social Justice Collaborative

HIVE (Hub for Inclusive Visionary Engagement) is an area within the Social Justice Collaborative. We work with students, staff, faculty, and community members in Greater Boston and beyond. We support college-access programs rooted in equity and creativity, offer learning opportunities to deepen personal and collective practices, and celebrate and promote the craft of creative work that explores identity, liberation, and a visionary future. We offer a place and space for those who wish to connect their passion and brilliance with the values and praxis of social justice.

Program Offerings from HIVE

Learning & Development

Justice at Work for Emerson College: A self-paced multimodal learning opportunity for employees who wish to deepen their leadership, knowledge, and skills through an equity and social justice lens.

College Pathway Programs

EmersonWRITES and EmersonTHEATRE are free for students in grades 8-12 in Boston and nearby towns focused on creative writing and playmaking theater, with support from Enrollment Management and in partnership with Writing, Literature, and Publishing, and Performing Arts. Students who participate in these programs that then apply and are accepted into Emerson as undergraduate students receive scholarships.

Self-Love Series

A variety of events open to the Emerson community that promote a celebration of self-love and empowerment. Through creative expression, mindfulness, and resource-sharing, the Self-Love series uplifts opportunities to create community and connectivity.

Student-produced and designed blog from the student employees of the Social Justice Collaborative, offering media critiques, personal essays and reflections, and creative writing and art.

Employee Resource Networks (ERNs)

In partnership with the Social Justice Collaborative and Human Resources, we support the College’s ERNs: groups of employees who gather together based on shared experiences or social identities. An ERN is an affinity space that enhances support for employees through community-building, professional development, and by engaging in shared dialogue with the College. Current ERNs: Fusion, eQual, EmCares.
