The Department of Writing, Literature and Publishing in Emerson College’s School of the Arts offers three graduate degree programs: an on-campus Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing, an online MFA in Popular Fiction Writing and Publishing, and an on-campus Master of Arts (MA) in Publishing and Writing. The department also offers an online certificate program in Digital Content Management.

Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing
Our on-campus MFA in Creative Writing program focuses on the actual practice of writing, as well as its literary foundations. As one of the longest-running programs of its kind, this MFA program boasts some of the most impressive faculty in writing and publishing, is home to two award-winning literary journals, and is strongly connected to the Boston publishing community. Choosing from the areas of literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, students will explore writing as both an art form and a professional pursuit.
