At Emerson, our students are always creating: filming movies, hosting their own shows, editing video, mixing sound, and more; Media Technologies and Production (MTP) is here to help make that happen.

We ensure that students have access to the highest-quality equipment and technology so they are primed for success in their fields after graduation. MTP oversees the use of this industry-leading equipment, production facilities, and post-production centers, thus facilitating student projects and supporting the creative work of students, faculty, and staff. 

Mission Statement

Provide superior curricular and co-curricular support to students and faculty in media-intensive programs through high-functioning facilities, equipment, and staffing services that support the work they do, creating avenues for innovation and creativity.

We welcome students of any major who wish to get involved! When you come work with us, you'll be part of an immersive environment where you can apply what you've learned in class, use your creativity, hone your technical skills—and have fun while doing it.

Equipment Distribution Center

The Equipment Distribution Center (EDC) manages all Visual Media Arts and Journalism equipment, with professional staff and student employees available to provide any needed technical support.

Emerson Channel

The Emerson Channel engages a hugely enthusiastic pool of students for creative content, on-camera talent, and technical execution, exemplifying the best in collegiate broadcasting. The Emerson Channel's award-winning original programming is available via live streaming and on Boston cable access.

Emerson Productions

Emerson Productions gives students the opportunity to gain real-life film production experience by working alongside creative professionals. From concept to post-production, students learn what it is like to create a broad range of marketing and educational videos for the Emerson community, non-profit and learning organizations. From short to long format, students learn through hands-on training to produce and create impactful stories that will live on multiple platforms.

The EVVY Awards

The EVVY Awards is not just an awards show—it is an entirely student-run organization, which provides an adequate learning experience for hundreds of Emerson students. The skills and experience you'll gain will carry over to the professional world. No matter what your major, the EVVY Awards will have something for you.

MTP has a great collaborative and non-intimidating environment where you can jump right in and get involved. It does not feel like you are working at all. I learn a lot and have a free range to explore.

I love the creative freedom that working at Media Technologies and Production allows me. They encourage me to share ideas and are open to making those ideas into future films.

Emerson Productions is a collaborative space, and as a student, I am able to have a voice here. I chose Emerson because it is different from what a college is supposed to be. I want to work and grow and be ready for the workforce, and MTP allows me to be challenged creatively.
