About Us

Off-Campus Student Services (OCSS) is a resource for the entire Emerson community—all current or future undergraduate and graduate students, staff, and faculty. Commuter students at Emerson College live off-campus in an apartment or at home. Our commuter student programs and services are designed for you no matter where you live. OCSS is here to help with all aspects of off-campus living including getting involved with campus life, finding roommates, signing a lease, even learning how to cook!

OCSS offers programs and services that advocate for commuter needs, educate on off-campus living and increase commuter involvement within the college and Boston, providing a variety of resources free of charge.

Off-Campus Student Services also offers advice and counseling on the housing process to students and parents. We can discuss anything from roommate issues, to general lease questions, to what you can expect to pay. We also have contact information for assistance with more serious issues.

OCSS has a year-round, open-door policy: any time an Emerson student or a parent comes in through our door, we’re ready to provide our services. Please know that we are only an email or phone call away.

Emerson Alerts

Emerson utilizes a state-of-the-art Emergency Notification System (ENS) called Rave to send Emerson Alert messages to students, faculty, and staff in the event of an emergency or school closure. When activated, this program simultaneously sends voicemail messages to individuals by telephone (both landline and cellular), text (SMS), and email.

The Rave system has the capability to send emergency notifications to Emerson campuses in Boston, Los Angeles, and the Netherlands.
