Academic Accommodations

To request an academic accommodation:

  1. Fill out the SAS Registration Form
  2. Submit documentation from a qualified impartial professional (psychologist, psychiatrist, or other relevant treatment provider) with experience and expertise in relation to the accommodations requested. Documentation may be uploaded when completing the form or at a later date.
  3. A SAS staff member will reach out to schedule an interview, as part of the interactive process, to discuss the disclosed disability, the impact in an academic setting and the requested accommodations. The interview can take place in person, on the phone, or via zoom.
  4. After reviewing the request and supporting documentation, SAS will determine the student’s eligibility to receive the requested accommodation or a reasonable alternative accommodation, and will inform the student of the decision via email. In most cases, students will be eligible for the approved academic accommodations throughout their time at Emerson.

For students to implement approved accommodations in their classes, students will request semester letters in the SAS Portal each semester. Once the request is verified by SAS, the letter will be sent to the students’  professors. Students  will receive instructions prior to the semester start  on how to complete this step.

If there are any questions about the process or type of information to submit, contact SAS or communicate directly with a staff member to arrange an informational meeting.
