You would think that not being somewhere would be simple, but the decision to take a leave affects many different aspects of a student’s life here at Emerson. It can have implications on everything from your academic progress to your student account. Sometimes it is absolutely the best decision to make, but it should always be an informed decision.
In an ideal world, students would know exactly where they wanted to be before classes began each semester, and no health issue or other circumstance would force anyone out of their classes. Unfortunately, life is complicated, and we do not live in an ideal world. Sometimes the choice to take a leave of absence (and the timing around it) is unavoidable. With that in mind, we want to explain what to expect when you request a leave of absence, and the difference between a mid-semester leave and one taken between semesters.
