**NOTE - The Hong Kong University Exchange is currently suspended.
Qualified students may apply to spend either the Fall or Spring semester at Hong Kong University.
The oldest tertiary educational institution in Hong Kong, Hong Kong University was established in 1911 with Faculties in Arts, Engineering, and Medicine. In the years since its inception, it has added additional Faculties of Law, Science, Architecture, Business & Economics, Education, Dentistry, Social Sciences, and a Graduate School. The exchange program with HKU centers upon its Faculty of Arts, encompassing Schools such as Humanities, English Studies, Chinese, Buddhist Studies, and Modern Languages & Cultures.
Emerson students enrolled at HKU enroll a majority of their subjects within a primary Faculty (typically the Faculty of Arts), but are allowed to take some courses within other Faculties as well. Examples of Arts subjects include Art History, Gender Studies, Comparative Literature, and Area Studies. All courses are taught in English and have the potential to meet General Education requirements, Liberal Arts/Perspectives requirements, and possibly progress towards majors/minors dependent upon approval from academic departments.
Students reside in on-campus accommodations and engage in campus-based activities and courses in the residential district of Pok Fu Lam on Hong Kong Island.
