Fall 2024 Estimated Costs

*Health Insurance Coverage in Washington, D.C.: Required by Emerson College. If your current health insurance plan provides coverage in Washington, D.C., you can deduct the cost of the Emerson health insurance plan from your bill. In order to waive this fee, you’ll need to fill out a Student Health Insurance Plan Online Waiver Form. If you need to see a doctor, the concierge on duty at the residence hall will direct you to a health clinic approximately 2 blocks away.

Additional Costs

• TWC Application Fee is $60
• Estimated living expenses: $200–$250 per week including food transportation, entertainment, etc. This number varies depending on personal spending habits.
• Travel arrangements to/from Washington, D.C.
• Transportation to and from your internship location. Log onto WMATA, Washington, D.C.’s Public Transit site, for more information
• The cost of meals and groceries; there is no dining facility. There are fully equipped kitchens in the housing facility.

Parking

Finding a parking space on D.C. city streets can be challenging, and most places are easily accessible via public transportation. For these reasons, we don't recommend bringing your personal vehicle; however, if it's something you're considering, The Residential and Academic Facility at NoMa has limited parking spaces available. A parking space will cost $675 for the Fall semester. Your vehicle will be assigned a private numbered space in our secure parking garage. The parking garage is underneath the building and is in close proximity to the elevator which will take you right to your apartment. Parking assignments are made on a first-come, first-serve basis, depending on space and occupancy availability. To be assigned a parking space, you must submit a fully completed TWC Community Profile, including vehicle information. The parking fee is due in full by the day of check-in. If you are selected to live at another residential facility, you will have to visit the building management office to purchase parking, depending on availability.

Internships

Around 70% of the TWC internship partners offer some form of compensation, which can include stipends, hourly pay, or and/or transportation fare. Students are able to see what type of payment will be offered before they interview with the organization.

Financial Assistance

Emerson students are eligible to use their regular semester scholarships and financial aid for the Washington, D.C. Program. 

If you need additional financial assistance to make your semester in Washington, D.C. possible, TWC offers a number of scholarships supported by generous funding from their partners.

You may be eligible to receive funding available for campus leaders, students from diverse backgrounds, members of honors societies and programs, students with disabilities, and more. Current scholarships are listed below:
