This is a remote program. It will take place in a synchronous live format while using Zoom in EST, with asynchronous elements using our Canvas online learning management software and Google Suite.

The Design/Technology for Stage & Screen program teaches aspiring designers how to develop a complete creative process, from original concept to creation of the design for theater and film production. By expanding the scope of your design ideas, this program will enhance your problem-solving and visual communication skills while helping you develop necessary tools to exhibit and present your work. As the scenic, lighting, sound, costume designer and make-up designer, you will learn to read and analyze a script, think metaphorically, sketch, draft and build scale models, create a light plot, build a soundscape, swatch and render costume designs.

An important objective for our online setting is to initiate and nurture the warm artistic community that naturally develops among our students. Students and teachers will engage each other through whole class sessions, small group collaborations, and exercises in pairs. There will be scheduled critiques where participants submit work for peer feedback and advice. The teachers will meet with students to provide additional individualized attention.

Taught by experienced faculty and professional designers who share their own processes and provide experience in all aspects of design/technology, this program will expand your portfolio and your understanding of what you will be doing in college and beyond.

Design/Technology for Stage & Screen is offered as a noncredit or college credit program option.
