Office of the Vice President

Staff in the Office of the Vice President lead the College’s branding and storytelling work. They manage the development and execution of all central marketing and communications initiatives and serve as official spokespeople for the College.

Institutional Communications

The Institutional Communications team is responsible for all official College messaging, delivering news and information to our campus community, the media, and the general public. Utilizing email, newsletters, media, and our website, we ensure our audiences are kept informed and up to date on the latest from the College.

The Common Thread is a biweekly newsletter exclusively for staff and faculty. Community members can submit news and story ideas by emailing common.thread [at] emerson.edu (common[dot]thread[at]emerson[dot]edu.)

Provost Notes, our Academic Affairs newsletter, is received by faculty and Academic Affairs staff and includes news, updates, and colleague spotlights. If you have news to share, email internal.comms [at] emerson.edu (internal[dot]comms[at]emerson[dot]edu).

Our strategic media relations experts handle both proactive and reactive media. We work with faculty and staff to position our experts for commentary in the media and provide support for executive visibility and thought leadership efforts.

Our Institutional Communications team also works closely with campus partners to spotlight and amplify innovation and collaboration on campus, and share those stories with high-impact, priority audiences.

Obtaining External Media Coverage

Emerson’s innovations, research, news, and events may warrant coverage by external media outlets. Faculty and staff who seek support for external coverage should mediarelations [at] emerson.edu (contact us) as soon as possible—a long lead time is best.

Process for Sending Campus-Wide Emails

A campus-wide email is any message sent to all students, all faculty, all staff, or any combination of those complete lists. This type of email is reserved for broad community information—such as institutional updates, major announcements, or time-sensitive notices.

All campus-wide emails are reviewed and scheduled by the director of internal communications to ensure clarity, coordination, and alignment with Emerson’s internal communication standards. Please submit a draft of your email through the Campus-Wide Email Submission Form at least three to five business days before your intended send date. We will make every effort to accommodate your requested timing while balancing institutional priorities.

Merit Pages: Highlighting Student Success

Emerson College showcases student achievements through Merit Pages, a social media and hometown news distribution program, which allows the College and students to share academic and extracurricular successes with family, friends, and future employers.

Students are welcome to participate by creating a Merit profile. We also encourage all departments, organizations, and other campus offices to submit student awards and achievements to news [at] emerson.edu (news[at]emerson[dot]edu), so we can recognize our students’ impressive work.
