Innovation for Impact Summer 2023 Updates

The application for the Innovation for Impact course has been extended! The deadline is now April 21, 2022. 

If you are interested in learning more about the course, we will be holding information sessions on the following dates:

  • April 14, 11:00 a.m.

  • Tuesday, March 7: Summer 2023 course listings released to the web
  • Tuesday, March 14: Summer registration for current Speech@Emerson students begins at 1:00 p.m. EDT (excludes summer admits)
  • Monday, March 20: Summer 2023 registration begins (excludes Speech@Emerson) at 9:00 a.m. EDT
  • Tuesday, March 21: Summer registration for new Speech@Emerson students (admitted for summer 2023) begins at 1:00 p.m. EDT 
  • Friday, May 5: Last day to join a waitlist for a Full Summer or Summer Session 1 course
  • Monday, May 15: Full Summer/Summer Session 1 waitlisting closed; all remaining students removed from waitlists
  • Friday, June 30: Last day to join a waitlist for a Summer Session 2
  • Monday, July 3: Summer Session 2 waitlisting closed; all remaining students removed from waitlists

All Emerson employees and spouses of employees enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student must first submit a Tuition Remission Form to Human Resources to participate in Summer 2023 registration.

Registration Deadlines

Speech@Emerson students have a normal week of add/drop, similar to the fall and spring. The last day to add or drop Summer 2023 Speech@Emerson classes is May 15.

All other students may drop a summer class before it has met for the first time. If your class has not met yet but it's too late to drop it online, please contact us.

  • Sunday, May 14: Last day to add or drop a May Intersession course online.
  • Sunday, May 21: Last day to add or drop a full summer or summer 1 course online.
  • Monday, July 10: Last day to add or drop a summer 2 course online.

Late Registration

If a course has already met, you will need permission from the course instructor to register late (see emerson.edu/permissions). Once the permission has been added to your account, contact us to register for the course. Late registrations are assessed a $50 late registration fee.

Refunds for In-Person or Remote Learning Courses

100% tuition refunds are available up until a course starts. You may drop a course online up until the day before the semester starts. After the start of the semester, online registration will be closed and all registration changes must be done through the Registrar's Office.

  • Courses may be dropped online for a full refund prior to the first day of class. If the summer session has started but your course has not met yet, you may drop the course by coming to the Registrar's Office or emailing registrar [at] emerson.edutitle="Email the Registrar's Office" from your Emerson email.
  • If a course has already met once, you are eligible for a 75% tuition refund.
  • If a course has already met twice, you are eligible for a 50% tuition refund.
  • If a course has already met three times you must withdraw.

Refunds for Asynchronous Online Courses

Excludes Speech@Emerson courses. Please see above.

Full Summer Courses

  • You must request to drop Full Summer asynchronous online courses before Friday, May 26, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT to receive a full refund. 
  • You must request to drop Full Summer asynchronous online courses before Friday, June 2, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT to receive a 75% refund.
  • You must request to drop Full Summer asynchronous online courses before Thursday, June 8, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT to receive a 50% refund.
  • After June 8, you must withdraw from Full Summer asynchronous online courses.

Summer Session 1 Courses

  • You must request to drop Summer Session 1 asynchronous online courses before Thursday, May 25, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT to receive a full refund.
  • You must request to drop Summer Session 1 asynchronous online courses before Tuesday, May 30, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT to receive a 75% refund.
  • You must request to drop Summer Session 1 asynchronous online courses before Friday June 2, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT to receive a 50% refund.
  • After June 2, you must withdraw from Summer Session 1 asynchronous online courses.

Summer Session 2 Courses

  • You must request to drop Summer Session 2 asynchronous online courses before Friday, July 14, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT to receive a full refund.
  • You must request to drop Summer Session 2 asynchronous online courses before Wednesday, July 19, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT to receive a 75% refund.
  • You must request to drop Summer Session 2 asynchronous online courses before Friday, July 21, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT to receive a 50% refund.
  • After July 21, you must withdraw from Summer Session 2 asynchronous online courses.

Course Load

Undergraduate students may register for up to 16 credits over the entire summer term. Students wishing to register for more than 16 credits must petition to registrar [at] emerson.edutitle="Email the Registrar's Office".

Graduate students may register for up to 12 credits over the entire summer term, including May Intersession. Students wishing to register for more than 12 credits must petition the Office of Graduate Studies.

Cost

Review the Summer tuition and fee information for undergraduates and graduates.

Full payment is due on Tuesday, April 18. Students with outstanding balances will be dropped from their courses. If you add a course on or after April 18 your additional tuition balance must be paid immediately.

Financial aid may be available for summer courses; review information for graduate students or undergraduate students.
