Graduates of the Global BFA in Film Art program are set up for global success in the film industry and beyond. Hear from some of our recent Film Art graduates about their experiences during their studies and post-graduation.

Time after time, I hear from my bosses, clients, and colleagues that they’re impressed by how much practical and theoretical knowledge I possess, which I can mostly credit to the curriculum. Almost every [job] interview has asked me in depth questions about the program, considering it was unlike anything other applicants come in with. This has proven to be widely beneficial to my career so far, and I assume it will only propel me further. Keeping in touch with Emerson’s alumni network has connected me with great people, with the network expanding beyond that I could’ve imagined being outside of a major film city.”

Senior thesis film was runner-up in Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF)’s Short Films Program; joined SIFF as a script reader

Since I graduated from the program, I submitted my thesis project pretty much at every festival that fits the theme of my film well. I almost gave up just by how hard the competition has been¬ — but I got into the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival! The Shutter was showcased on Opening Night of the festival and it was such an honor. The GBFA got many, many compliments, and much attention at the festival.

Capstone short film The Shutter was showcased on the opening night of the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival. It received multiple nominations, including for Best Student Film, and won Best World Premiere.

It was thrilling to showcase my work amongst such talented filmmakers at BFI Southbank and to premiere my film internationally was a lifelong dream secured so soon. The most rewarding part is the community ¬— you truly are who you surround yourself with, and I am so blessed to have met such incredible people.

Capstone short film The Space In Between was selected as a finalist for the UK Asian Film Festival, and had its London premiere at the British Film Institute/Southbank in 2023. The Space In Between was featured in a showcase amongst the Top 10 Best Short Films selected.
