At Emerson, we care about each other! Students sometimes struggle in ways that lead us to be concerned for their well-being. All Emerson community members are strongly encouraged to report behaviors that they feel are concerning or worrisome (no matter how small or insignificant they may seem) to the appropriate staff who can help.

Use these Three Rs to refer a student of concern so they can get the assistance they need:

The Three Rs

Clarify what the student is sharing with open-ended questions. Offer to connect the student with someone who can help. Explore together how they can find assistance.

Use the decision tree on the Refer page to help you determine the best course of action. Use the list of campus resources to refer them to the most appropriate resource OR call ECPD at 617-824-8888 or 911 immediately if the student talks about harming themselves or others.
