Global and Post-Colonial Studies Minor

This interdisciplinary minor aims to provide students with an understanding of our increasingly complex, globalized world. Through the lens of literature, the arts, history, politics, and culture, students will be introduced to key concepts in global and postcolonial studies. Through an awareness of marginal knowledge systems and neglected histories, students will critically engage the global in their lives.

For the Global and Postcolonial Studies minor, at least four courses (16 credits) in designated courses are required. Students are encouraged to study abroad and are invited to pursue either a regional or thematic concentration within the minor. For the core course, students may choose between IN 203 Postcolonial Cultures and IN 213 Introduction to Global Studies. The remaining 12 credits are chosen from the course list, at least one of which must be at the 300 or 400 level.
